Biography/CV

Congratulations to Lauriane Harrington, in the ENP team lead by Dr. Uwe Maskos at Institut Pasteur who received a young researcher award from the Fondation des Treilles for her ongoing PhD work.

In collaboration with Dr. Patricia Robledo at the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Lauriane has demonstrated that the β4 subunit of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors is required for voluntary consumption of reinforcing doses of nicotine using a combination of transgenic mouse lines, lentivirus technology and an intra venous self-administration paradigm. This research has also highlighted the habenulo-peduncular circuit as having a role in β4-mediated nicotine consumption.
