2016 Results

Auditions

 A total of 515 applications were received for the 2016  ENP GP call. The 182 eligible applications were reviewed by a committee of scientists from different backgrounds belonging to the ENP network.

27 candidates pre-selected during the February committee reunion went through phone interviews and 15 of them came from the USA, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Italy, and South Africa, to Paris on March 30th and 31st for the final interview.

Lab Visits and Activities

At the end of the first day, twenty ENP teams exposed posters about their research projects and discussed with the applicants during a cocktail hosted at the Holiday Inn Hotel rue Danton. ENP reps Soham Saha  and Maria Julia Carbajal, about 40 ENP researchers and staff got a chance to get together and discuss with the applicants.

During 2 days, prospective students discovered 3 research centers and other teams belonging to the ENP network. Again, many thanks to the scientists whom opened their doors and organized the tours:

- At the Ecole Normale Supérieure: Vincent Nadal presented his team and the Laboratoire de Physique Statistique, German Sumbre presented the Institut de Biologie of the ENS, Sharon Peperkamp the Département d'Etudes Cognitives, Catherine Tallon-Baudry the Laboratoire de Neurosciences Cognitives, Pascal Mamassian and Franck Ramus the Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique.

- At the Fédération de Recherche en Neurosciences of the Université Descartes rue des Saints Pères, ENP Director Serge Charpak presented his team and the Laboratoire de Neurophysiologie et Nouvelles Microscopies, joined by colleagues Etienne Audinat and Maria Cecilia Angulo, then Valentina Emiliani and Bruno Gasnier presented the Laboratoire de Neurophotonique, Vivien Chevaleyre and Brandon Stell, the Laboratoire de Physiologie du Cerveau, Daniel Zytnicki the Centre de Neurophysique, Physiologie et Pathologie, and finally, Cendra Agulhon, her team at the UFR Biomédicale.  

- At the Institut de Neurosciences Paris Saclay, Philippe Vernier, Cyrille Vaillend and Muriel Perron presented their teams, then Yves Frégnac and Thierry Bal presented the Unité de Neuroscience Information et Complexité, followed by a simple buffet.

To wrap up these two-days auditions, a welcome evening was organized by the student reps for the candidates to meet actual actual students of the ENP GP. This event was greatly appreciated by all.
